Stronghold of Zion Zion's Stronghold
The Stronghold of Zion is a retaining wall built on the southern slope of Mount Zion. It measures more than 60 meters tall and 120 meters wide. It is made up of more than 5,000 huge gabions piled from the bedrock of the Nantze Stream all the way up to the highway at mid-slope. Altogether there are 61 layers of gabions. It towers loftily above the ground, closely compacted like the wall of Jerusalem. Day and night, it guards the holy mountain from the dangers of soil erosion.
